David McGuire is the Principal at Tindley Summit Academy

“The education landscapes need to be shaken up in Indianapolis. The children deserve better than what we are offering. We need leaders who are ready to help usher in the next generation. Surge provides an opportunity for leaders of color to shake things up in service of children. Being part of Surge offers a chance to continue to develop my leadership capacity, and with the capacity, I can send the elevator back down to support future leaders.”

David McGuire serves as Assistant Principal at Winding Ridge Elementary School in MSD of Lawrence Township. Previously he served as Principal at Tindley Accelerated Schools for six years at both the elementary and middle school levels. At Tindley, he led a school expansion, developed a teacher leadership program, and created a community learning center and community garden. David served on the Far Eastside Community Council and Far Eastside K-8 Initiative.
David is a 2022 Surge Academy Indy Fellow and a 2017 Teach Plus Policy Fellow.
