Anna Wolde-Yohannes is a Program Manager at Early Care Educators of San Francisco.

“As part of the Surge movement, I’m excited to build change-making skills centered on the power and strength of my own racial and ethnic identity alongside other leaders of color. I hope to better understand the complexities of the education landscape so that we can create our own tools to deconstruct systems of privilege, power, and oppression in our local education systems at intersecting axes of inequality: race, class, gender, and sexual orientation. Given the state of education after the pandemic and a year of racial reckoning, we have a unique opportunity to redefine care and education. Instead of returning to “normal”, I would like to build on this momentum to transform early childhood systems through community dialogue that centers educator-identified priorities..”
